Carts that were almost an order:
followed up, not forgotten

A shopper who fills a cart and leaves has already done the hard part: deciding what to buy. They still do not check out, usually for a reason a generic discount email never addresses. An agent sends a timed sequence that answers the actual sticking point, shipping cost, a size question, a payment option, instead of a blanket percent off.

Why one discount email rarely brings the cart back

Most online stores lose a large share of filled carts before checkout, often more than half. The usual recovery tactic is a single automated email with the same flat discount sent to everyone, no matter why they actually left. A shopper who stopped because shipping cost more than expected gets the same message as one who was simply comparing two sizes. Neither gets an answer to their actual question.

Timing costs just as much. A reminder sent the next morning often arrives too late. The shopper has already moved on, or was just browsing on a lunch break and meant to come back that evening. By the time the message lands, the decision has gone cold. Catching the moment right, not too soon and not too late, matters more than a default “send after 24 hours” setting ever will.

Then there is the discount reflex. Defaulting straight to a percent off trains repeat shoppers to abandon their cart on purpose and wait for the email. That erodes margin on exactly the customers who would have paid full price anyway. It also does nothing for the shopper whose real blocker was never price.

How the agent follows up

The agent watches for an abandoned cart and sends a timed sequence matched to your store’s typical decision window. A first message goes out soon after abandonment, while intent is still warm. A follow-up lands a day or two later if needed, in the channel the shopper actually used: email, WhatsApp, LINE or SMS. The sequence is tuned to your store’s actual buying patterns rather than a one-size default.

Where possible, the first message addresses a likely blocker directly, instead of jumping straight to a discount. That might be a note about free shipping over a threshold, a size guide, or a reminder that the item is in limited stock. It depends on whatever your store’s most common objection actually is. Only if those do not move the shopper does the sequence offer a discount, and only within the tiers and caps your team sets in advance.

The agent writes every recovery attempt into your store’s CRM or order system, along with its outcome: recovered, no response, or unsubscribed. That lets your team see which messages actually convert, and adjust the sequence over time instead of guessing. Shoppers who ask to stop receiving messages are removed from the sequence immediately and permanently.

What your team still controls

The discount tiers and caps are set and changed by your team, never guessed by the agent in the moment. Any shopper who replies with a real question, a complaint, or a request outside the standard flow is handed to a support person with the context attached. The overall sequence strategy stays a decision your team makes: what to test next, when to retire a message that is not working. The agent only supplies the data behind that decision.

Guardrails on every send

The agent introduces itself as an AI assistant at the start of every conversation. Every message sent and every outcome is logged, so a manager can see exactly what went out to whom and when. Discount offers are hard-capped at the tiers agreed before launch, with no path for the agent to exceed them even in an edge case. The sequence runs in a dry-run mode against real recent cart data before it is allowed to message a live shopper. A kill switch turns the whole thing off in one message if something looks wrong.

Price and timeline

Option Price What it covers Timeline
Single automation from $500 One store, one message sequence, discount rules, outcome logging 3 to 6 days
Department package from $2,500 Cart recovery plus upsell prompts and win-back of inactive customers 2 to 4 weeks

Running cost is usually $15 to $50 a month in messaging and model usage depending on cart volume.

This pairs well with upsell and cross-sell, so a recovered cart can grow before checkout. Win-back of inactive customers covers the shoppers this sequence does not recover. FAQ

How much does abandoned cart recovery automation cost?

From $500 for one store and one message sequence, live in 3 to 6 days. Multi-channel setups with tiered discount rules and product-specific messaging usually run $1,200 to $2,500.

How long before it is live?

3 to 6 days once we have access to your store's cart data and a sense of your typical buying window.

Which tools does it connect to?

Shopify, WooCommerce, or your store's own cart webhooks handle the data side. Email, WhatsApp, LINE and SMS handle the messaging side, whichever channel matches where your customers already expect to hear from you.

What if the agent offers the wrong discount?

Discount tiers and caps are agreed with you before launch and enforced as a hard rule. The agent cannot offer more than your approved range, even if a conversation seems to call for it. Anything outside that range is flagged to a person instead of sent.

Is customer and cart data safe?

Cart and contact data stay in your store's own systems. The agent reads and writes through your existing platform's API, and every message sent is logged, so you can audit the sequence at any time.
