A thousand product pages,
one voice, no copy-paste

A catalogue of a few hundred SKUs usually has a few dozen descriptions actually written with care. The rest get copied, half-translated or left blank. An agent writes a description for every SKU from its real attributes, in your brand voice. It flags anything it is not confident about and leaves the final read to a human.

Why a growing catalogue outgrows its own copy

A catalogue grows faster than anyone can write for it. The first fifty SKUs get a description a copywriter actually spent time on. The next two hundred get a template with the product name swapped in. By the time a catalogue reaches a thousand SKUs, a meaningful share of the pages are thin or duplicated across variants. Some are missing the one detail a buyer actually needed to decide. Teams that audit their own catalogue honestly tend to find this pattern every time. Nobody was careless. Writing a thousand good descriptions by hand was never going to fit in anyone’s week.

Variants and languages compound the problem. A product that comes in three sizes or three colors often ends up with three descriptions that read like three different writers worked on them. A catalogue selling into more than one market adds half-finished translations, done once and never revisited as the source copy changed.

A thin description also costs real sales. A buyer comparing two near-identical products on a marketplace tends to pick the one whose description actually answers their question. A blank or templated page is a quiet, continuous loss. Nobody notices it on any single SKU, but it adds up across a catalogue of hundreds.

What the agent drafts from your own attributes

The agent reads your product attributes, spec sheet, or supplier data for every SKU and writes a description in your brand’s voice, not a generic one. Tone, structure and the specific details your brand chooses to lead with are learned from your existing approved descriptions before the first batch is generated. Marketplace-specific requirements, character limits, required fields, forbidden terms, get applied automatically per destination. The same product can ship different-length descriptions to your own storefront and to a marketplace without a human reformatting each one.

A compliance pass runs before anything publishes. That matters most in regulated categories: supplement claims, electrical safety language, cosmetic ingredient statements. This is the same gate that runs across our content agent’s 11 content types for two sports nutrition brands, described in the content agent case study. The gate rejects by default, and only a fixed-once, regenerated-once draft reaches a human reviewer.

For catalogues where a product photo or scene needs to match the description, the same generation discipline we built for our product card designer bot applies. Consistent framing and a calibration check keep product size and color accurate across the batch. It costs a fraction of a manual photo shoot or a designer-by-hand workflow, per image.

Any SKU with missing, contradictory or clearly wrong source data gets flagged instead of guessed. A reviewer sees exactly which products need a real spec sheet, rather than discovering a confidently wrong description after it has already published.

What your team still signs off on

Final review before publish, especially for regulated categories, stays with a person. Decisions about brand voice itself stay with your team. So does deciding which details matter most for a product line, and how to handle a SKU the agent flagged as missing data. The agent drafts and flags. Publishing is a human decision every time in the first weeks. It can move to spot-check review once the voice and the compliance rules are proven against your catalogue.

How we keep a bad draft from reaching a page

A compliance check runs before any description reaches a reviewer. It rejects forbidden claims by default, rather than relying on a human catching them in a long review queue. Missing or contradictory source data triggers a flag instead of a guess. The first batch runs as a dry run against a sample of your catalogue before anything publishes live. Every description is logged with the source attributes that produced it, and a kill switch stops generation instantly if the voice or the data starts drifting.

Price and timeline

Option Price What it covers Timeline
Single automation from $550 One catalogue, one marketplace, brand voice tuned from your existing copy 4 to 8 days
Department package from $2,500 Descriptions plus creative variants and translation across your full catalogue 2 to 4 weeks

Running cost is usually $20 to $100 a month in model usage depending on catalogue size and how often SKUs change, with a budget cap set before launch.

Pairs directly with translation and localisation of catalogs when a catalogue sells into more than one language. Image alt text and tagging gives the same SKUs accessible, searchable images alongside the copy. Creative variants generation reuses the same brand-voice tuning for ad copy rather than listing copy. FAQ

How much does product description automation cost?

From $550 for one catalogue and one marketplace with a fixed brand voice, live in 4 to 8 days. Multiple marketplaces, several languages, or a regulated category needing a stricter compliance pass usually runs $1,500 to $3,000.

How long before it is live?

4 to 8 days. Most of it goes into tuning the brand voice against your own approved descriptions, so the first batch does not read like a generic template. We also test the compliance rules against your actual product category.

Which tools does it connect to?

Your product feed, spreadsheet, supplier data or PIM on the input side. Your storefront's CMS, a marketplace listing tool or a spreadsheet export on the output side. Shopify, WooCommerce and most marketplace bulk-upload formats are supported directly.

What if the agent writes something inaccurate about a product?

The agent writes only from the attributes and spec data you give it. It flags any SKU with missing or contradictory source data instead of guessing a plausible-sounding detail. A compliance pass rejects forbidden claims by default in regulated categories like supplements or electronics.

Is our product and catalogue data safe?

Your catalogue data stays in your own feed, CMS or PIM. Nothing is retained outside the generation pipeline. Every description is logged with the source data that produced it, so a reviewer can check any line against the original spec.
