Prove ownership without typing a password:
a wallet signature as the login

Sign-in with wallet replaces a password with a cryptographic signature that proves you own an address. Token gating takes that identity further: a specific NFT or token balance opens a channel, a feature, a piece of content. We build both properly, including a fallback for people who do not have or do not want a wallet.

How a wallet replaces a password

Web3 login lets someone prove who they are by signing a message with their crypto wallet, instead of typing a password. We verify that signature server-side, against the Sign-In with Ethereum standard or its equivalent for other chains.

Token gating builds on that identity to control access. A specific NFT, a minimum token balance, or membership in a particular collection opens content, a feature, or entry into a community space. It is checked against real on-chain data, not a claim someone could fake.

Who this is actually for

You need this when ownership of a specific on-chain asset is genuinely the access credential that matters. A collector community gated to holders of one NFT collection. A token-holder-only feature or content tier. A Discord or Telegram community where membership should track real holder status, not an honor system.

It also works as a lower-friction login for any product whose audience already lives in crypto wallets, even without a gating requirement attached.

You do not need this if your access does not actually depend on on-chain ownership. Forcing a wallet-based login onto an audience that mostly has no wallets adds friction for no real benefit. A standard email or social login, the kind we cover under SSO and OAuth, is the better default here.

How the signature and the gate work together

Sign-in with wallet follows the Sign-In with Ethereum standard, or the equivalent for non-Ethereum chains. The user signs a structured message with their wallet, and our backend verifies that signature against the claimed address. We never trust a check done only in the browser. That kind of check is easy to fake.

Once verified, session handling keeps the person logged in without a new signature for every action. That is what makes the experience usable instead of a wall of wallet popups.

Token gating checks on-chain balance against the verified wallet address: a specific NFT, a minimum token amount, membership in a particular collection. We build it on the chains and standards your project needs, drawing on the same multichain infrastructure behind wallets we have built across ten different chains.

Where access needs to track current ownership, not just a one-time check, we build real-time re-verification. Access gets revoked automatically if the gating asset is sold. That is a more involved feature, and we scope it deliberately rather than assuming every project needs it.

Gating logic extends naturally beyond your own site: Discord role assignment, Telegram group membership, the same verification underneath both.

Where the tradeoffs are

A wallet-only login excludes anyone without a wallet. That is the point for some products, and a real accessibility problem for others. We build a standard login fallback by default. The exception is when wallet-only access is specifically what your product needs. That way you do not accidentally lock out people who should have had an easier way in.

Checking balance in real time on every access request costs more, in performance and in money, than a cached check that re-checks periodically. We size this against how much instant revocation actually matters for your case. Always-live checking is not free, and it is not always the right tradeoff.

What you pay, in two tiers

Option Price What it covers Timeline
Wallet login + single gate from $3,200 Sign-in with wallet, one token or collection gate, session handling 3 to 5 weeks
Multi-collection with cross-platform gating from $6,000 Multiple gates, real-time re-verification, Discord or Telegram integration 5 to 9 weeks

Running cost is usually low, under $30 a month. That mostly covers on-chain balance queries, and it scales with how often access gets re-verified.

Where this fits elsewhere

This pairs with crypto wallet integration for the wallet connection underneath it. It also pairs with DAO voting and treasury when gated access and governance rights sit on the same token. See the development service page for the full build.

For gated entry paths inside a real closed-community protocol, see the closed B2B social network case study. For multichain wallet infrastructure behind cross-chain gating, see the ten-chain crypto wallet case study.

FAQ

How much does web3 login and token gating cost?

From $3,200 for sign-in with wallet plus gating on a single token or NFT collection. Add multi-collection gating or real-time re-checks and the price moves to $5,500 to $9,000. The same range covers access tied to Discord or Telegram.

Is a wallet signature actually secure as a login method?

Yes, when it follows the Sign-In with Ethereum standard with server-side verification. The signature proves control of the private key for that address, without ever exposing the key itself. That is a stronger guarantee than a password, which can be phished or reused.

What happens if someone does not have a crypto wallet?

We build a standard email or social login fallback wherever the product should stay open to people without a wallet. Web3 login then becomes an option for the audience that wants it, not a wall that locks everyone else out. The exception is when wallet-only access is actually the point of your product.

Does access update automatically if someone sells the gating token?

It can, through real-time re-verification that checks current balance instead of only checking once at login. Whether we build this depends on how much immediate revocation matters for your case. A one-time check at login is simpler and cheaper, but it leaves a window where someone keeps access after selling the asset.

Can this gate access to a Discord server or Telegram group, not just our own site?

Yes. Token-gated access to Discord and Telegram is a common, well-supported pattern. We verify wallet ownership and token balance, then manage roles or group membership from that. It is built as an extension of the same gating logic.
